Jackelyne Hernandez Story:
Thirteen-year-old Jackelyne Hernandez was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes two years ago. Ever since she was diagnosed, it has been difficult for her and for her family as life has had to change, and everyone has had to be on guard in the fight against Diabetes.
Jackelyne’s Diabetic Alert Dog is coming from 4 Paws for Ability after much research was done by the family and after meeting a child with a service dog from 4 Paws. Jackelyne has advocated for herself and even did a PowerPoint to convince her parents that she needed a Diabetic Alert Dog!
She has a Dexcom and a pump, but at night, she has become so used to her pump beeping, sometimes she sleeps through it. She and her parents want the dog to be trained to alert and wake both her and her parents up.
It costs 4 Paws an average of $50,000 to raise and properly train a service dog to perform this lifesaving task. The family is raising $17,000 of the total cost. To help Jackelyne get her lifesaving service dog, credit card gifts can be made by going to:
